GripFlex has a unique design that includes several features each with an important benefit. GripFlex's unique surface texture and material compound provide superior traction. As a belt travels around the drive pulley it changes in length. Under high tension as it first contacts the pulley, it is stretched as compared to its state as it leaves the low tension side of the pulley. GripFlex is designed to stretch and contract with the belt which greatly enhances its service life.

GripFlex is self cleaning which reduces material build up and thereby eliminates a major source of belt misalignment. The ability to install this product with the pulley still in place on the conveyor is another big advantage regarding both installation cost and downtime. As a press cured product, GripFlex has better abrasion resistance and a more stable hardness over it's life. Standard vulcanized lagging is steam cured which results in a less abrasion resistant product whose hardness quickly increases with age which also increases the possibility of slippage occurring.
